Getting back into lifestyle; fitness outfit

When you hit a lazy stage it's quite hard to get yourself back onto the fitness train. Yes, constantly making excuses for not being able to workout counts as a lazy stage. I, for one, had been in that stage for time. About 6 years ago I used to be really fit and the slimmest I've ever been. Then 'life happened', or at least that's what I told myself, and my workout routines have been all over the place. Personally, I think that occasionally doing 5 sets of 10 squats is not fitness.

I had two main excuses up sleeve; I don't have time and I don't have money. I'm pretty sure that these are common excuses amongst the non-fit population. Funnily enough I have enough time to binge watch on Netflix and finish whole seasons in the space of a week. And the money excuse, well that's the biggest one given that I live in London and running through Hyde Park would be good enough and the fact that I pay for various beauty boxes. Basically, I needed a kick in the rear to get my priorities sorted.

My kick in the rear was anxiety and a horrible two months. I hadn't felt this low and anxious and had this many panic attacks in years. When it started happening again I was shocked and soon tried to pick myself up because the last thing I wanted was to end up living the 'life' I lived years ago. I know for a fact that fitness for me is one of the main medicines to dealing with this state of being. It makes me feel good about myself which boosts my confidence. It also helps me release tension, clear my head and sleep better.

So yes, fitness is important to lose weight and to tone and all the physical shebang but for me it's more about a general state of being. This should be your motivation. Especially because keeping fit and working out can be tough sometimes and if you're doing it for the sole purpose of achieving physical goals it will be a lot harder when you don't see the difference.

For the past month I've going to the gym almost daily. I do various things from using the normal gym to swimming and classes. No, I don't always cheer at the idea of having to go but I never regret it after. And I can honestly say I've been doing much better, not only physically but mentally as well.

This being a huge part of my current lifestyle and this blog being a representation of my journey, I thought I will start posting the random fitness related post. Hopefully the above explanation is enough for you to understand my sudden lifestyle change and not think that I am trying to be some fitness guru because I'm not and never will be. The reality is that very few of us are which is why it makes sense for me to do this.
