S/S 17 Trend Series | Styling Modern Shirts

Tuesday, 7 March 2017

Have your read yesterday's post yet? If the answer is not head over for a quick look at one of the S/S 17 trends which is deconstructed shirts. I am massively in love with this trend and it is probably one I will be wearing all the time. So I created two simple outfits.

Fluted sleeve shirt from topshop with straight leg jeans

This first one features this shirt from Topshop that I recently got. The sleeves are one of the deconstructed features that you should look out for. Besides the sleeves this shirt has floral embroidery down two sides of the shirt over two frilled panels. All of this combined make it quite a statement shirt and I wanted all the attention to be on the architecture of the shirt and the fine detailing. Thus, I just styled it with a pair of blue straight leg jeans.

Basic shirt worn asymmetrically with tapered trousers

This deconstructed shirt is more of a DIY. I just grabbed an over-sized shirt I already owned and put it on as if it was 5am and I had no idea what I was doing. Basically, I buttoned it unevenly so I had more give to skew one side of the collar over my shoulder. I also tucked in half of it to create an asymmetric effect. Given this 'scruffy' top half, I styled it with a pair of navy tapered trousers to make sure that the look is not too much and there is a balance.

This might look a bit weird on the eyes but that is what the 'deconstructed shirt' trend is about. Comment down below if you want to see more DIYs on how to make this look happen using shirts you already have.
