Wear a Piece of the Universe | Kassandra Lauren Gordon

Monday, 3 October 2016

Displayed elegantly in a crafts corner shop, Kassandra Lauren Gordon shared with some bloggers and friends her pieces together with her new collection Water on Mars. Recreating the universe in jewellery, Gordon has produced beautiful unique pieces. The feature that sucked me into this cosmos was the simple yet structurally intricate definitions of each piece.

As all is manually made by Kassandra herself, no piece is like the other which provides buyers unique pieces of jewellery. She also explained to me that to add to the uniqueness of the pieces she researches different craters on the planet on which the range she is working on is based and interprets different parts in every item.

During the event I had the opportunity to speak with the woman of the hour herself so obviously I had to ask her my burning question ; Why does she base her jewellery on space? Her answer was clear and meaningful, giving a deep perspective to all her pieces. Gordon said that going to space was always one of her ambitions but that's not all. Going to space would mean that you are confident and ready to take risks. She wants that to be her message behind her work and more so she wants women to embrace that message when wearing her jewellery. What motivates Gordon to share this life affirming message is her experience as a domestic violence worker.

Sentiment and meaning make jewellery more valuable which is why I'm so glad to have been invited to the event and to have seen the collections with my own eyes. I truly was star struck by every item; Or even better, planet struck. Obviously, I tried to capture as much as possible on camera so here are some snaps.

If you'd like to get your hands on some of these pieces you can do so by visiting her website or click here to find out which other shops stock her jewellery. I can;t wait for future new collections and I'm so curious to see which planet she'd be taking up next.
