Blogmas Day 23 | The Christmas Party Makeup

Tuesday, 23 December 2014
Christmas + Make up = Red lip & Shimmery eyes.  That's the one and only equation for me.  I love to crack out the berry and red tones.  I have shared with you previously my favourite 4 lipsticks for the season (Blogmas Day 9).  Any one of them will do in this look...but of course I had to use only one of them.

The Base - Because the plan is to have a bold lip, especially when the colour is some kind of red, it is very important to have an even toned face.  In my case, because I have red cheeks, I normally have to opt for a bit of a more coverage foundation.  The one I used here is the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation (Shade 4).  Another good coverage foundation which is a lot cheaper is the L'Oreal Infallible 24hr Foundation.  I apply this with the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush.  Then I see what else needs extra coverage and use the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer to do so.  I set everything with the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder (Transparent) especially in my T-zone.

The Eyes - First I prime my eyes using the The Soap & Glory It's About Prime as a base.  Then using Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette, I cover my lid with Tricky (a golden, shimmery toned shadow).  In the outer v of my eye, into the contour, I apply Wrapped Up from the The Sleek Oh So Special Palette (a dark brown). Using a clean blending brush I soften the edges and keeping repeating the last two steps until it is dark as I want it to be.  Then, I conceal my horrid under-eye circles using the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer.  A soon as that is done, I line my upper lids using the Maybelline New York Gel Liner and the blending brush I used before I blend some of the Wrapped Up colour under my lower waterline. Finally, I apply a couple of mascara coats, the one I use here is the L'Oreal Extreme Volum' Miss Manga Mascara.

The Cheeks - I first contour with the Soap & Glory Solar Powder by creating c-shaped motions from the hollows of my cheeks (just below the cheek bone..suck in your face to find the hollow) and into the temples of the forehead. For a bit of colour I use a blusher with a blue undertone because of the lip colour that I will be using.  The one that I used here, and always tend to go for, is the elf Blusher in Mauve.  I apply this lightly just for a bit of colour as I do not want a heavily blushed face when sporting a red lip.

The Lips - For the grand finale...the red lips.  Step 1 is to line my lips using the Elizabeth Arden Lip Pencil in Plumrose.  This will make it easier for a clean lip look.  Finally, in this look here, I use the Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Finish in 107.  A lovely berry toned red that screams festive.

Put your powder and lipstick in your handbag for any touch ups needed...and you're ready to go.  Enjoy your Christmas partayyyy!
